Your goal

Five contexts Five approaches

Three decades of practice have taught us to recognise five typical situations in which entrepreneurs look for an accounting partner. Find yours.

Newly founded company or special purpose company

Your company is newly founded, is currently not actively operating, or was formed for a special purpose. Although the volume of activity is relatively modest, the regulatory framework still expects you to report to state institutions on time.

TI-KI takes over the day-to-day running of your financial administration, while in the field of tax legislation and regulation it puts at your disposal knowledge accumulated over three decades of practice. Your focus stays where it should be, on growing your own business.

For companies formed for a special purpose, our engagement goes beyond the operational level. We monitor business operations and ensure timely reporting to all key stakeholders connected with the company, from management and owners to banking institutions and other external partners.

Our service package for small companies and special purpose companies is designed around the specifics of such businesses, at a price that is in reasonable proportion to the scope of the engagement.

Company with employees but no in-house accounting department

Your company has employees but does not have its own accounting department. You are looking for a partner whose expertise allows you to devote yourself to the core of your business.

If you are not currently using the services of an accounting firm, if you are not satisfied with your current arrangement, or if your business has reached a stage that calls for a more serious approach, we will help you choose the path that suits the size and complexity of your company.

As an external partner, we adapt to your specific circumstances. The reports we prepare, monthly, quarterly and annual, are tailored to your needs, language and chart of accounts.

TI-KI offers a comprehensive service covering accounting and finance, tax advisory and reporting. Our aim is to provide support that requires minimal operational involvement on your part, so that you can direct your available time and attention to developing your own business.

Company with its own finance and accounting department

Your company has its own finance and accounting department. The question you face is this: does further development of that internal function justify the resources it requires? A market that rewards productivity and focus ever more sharply demands that your capacities be directed towards your core business.

Outsourcing financial operations is a solution that delivers measurable savings and room for productivity growth at the same time.

TI-KI enables a full or partial transition from in-house to outsourced financial management. Business operations can be monitored in your existing software or in ours, with regular reporting tailored to your specific circumstances, language and chart of accounts.

We process payroll with the highest level of protection for data on individual earnings. For clients with international ownership, we align our approach with the practices they know from their home countries.

Your company needs an auditor

The Accounting Act (Zakon o računovodstvu) classifies legal entities as micro, small, medium-sized and large, and this classification determines the obligation to have annual reports audited and the frequency of such audits.

Recently there has also been a clear upward trend in audits that are not required by law, whether of financial statements or of business operations in a broader sense. Owners of small and medium-sized enterprises that have been operating for more than ten years understand that taking time for an independent assessment of their own work is a useful management tool. In most cases this is not about suspicions of activity outside the legal framework, but about assessing possible formal omissions, unfamiliarity with specific issues, or seeking advice on situations that are not common in day-to-day business.

Although the law does not impose an obligation to obtain audit reports on all limited liability companies, the very realisation that an independent and expert assessment can confirm compliance with statutory regulations, and also reveal untapped opportunities, motivates a growing number of owners to request such an audit.

With our experience, professionalism and thorough knowledge of the legal framework, we are in a position to act as an intermediary in preparing your documentation for the audit and to ensure that the entire process is carried out professionally, independently and objectively.

Foreign representative office or branch

In business practice, the organisational forms of a branch and a representative office are often treated as the same, although there is an essential legal difference between them.

A branch is the form through which a foreign legal entity or a foreign sole trader may carry on business activities in the Republic of Croatia on a permanent basis. Its establishment and operation are governed by the Companies Act (Zakon o trgovačkim društvima, ZTD). Branches of foreign founders determine the results of their business and pay the prescribed taxes in the Republic of Croatia, and under Article 617 of the Companies Act they are required to keep business books in accordance with Croatian regulations.

A representative office, unlike a branch, is not a legal entity and does not carry on independent business activities. It operates under the company name of its founder, exclusively on the founder’s instructions, and its activities are limited to market research, promotional activities and activities related to its own representation. When a representative office employs Croatian citizens, their employment relationships, salaries and other working conditions are governed by the provisions of Croatian legislation.

When a foreign founder engages us, our role is to take over the day-to-day running of the financial side of the business in Croatia and to provide knowledge and experience in the field of tax and statutory regulations. The approach we apply is tailored to the specifics of each client, which allows foreign entities to operate in an environment that is understandable and predictable to them.
